Belgard Products has introduced a line of environmentally friendly pavers called “Belgard Environmental Series.”
One of the pavers in the line, the Subterra Stone, is a natural looking permeable paver that looks like chiseled stone but is actually made of interlocking concrete pieces.
Subterra has a 9.5 percent opening ratio that allows rainwater to naturally drain to the subsoils below instead of running off it, which helps to alleviate runoff and stormwater drainage issues.

The Belgard Subterra stone was used in the 2008 HGTV green dream home (the pictures in this post are from the dream home).
Currently, Belgard products are only available from distributors in the New England area of the United States (New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island). Click here for a clickable map of distributors.
